When and how often should I use it?
Dermaworks‘ high strength 2.5% Retinol Serum is a night serum. Retinol is photosensitive, meaning that sunlight impairs its effectiveness. Retinol does all its work while you are asleep, so we recommend applying to a clean, make-up free face before going to bed.
After cleansing, apply a few drops in to your palm and gently massage into the face, neck, décolletage and hands. Job done!
Retinol increases cell turnover. This may initially result in some flaking skin and/or slight redness. This is perfectly normal and should quickly return to normal after a few days.
If you are new to retinol and you find that your skin is a little sensitive, simply reduce the frequency of treatment to every two or three nights, gradually increasing to every night, once your skin has adjusted.
For best results, allow the serum to absorb then apply Dermaworks‘ Hyaluronic Acid Serumfollowed by your favourite moisturiser.
Is retinol suitable for all skin types?
Our products are safe for all skin types, even the most sensitive, but we recommend you slowly build a regimen to ensure a positive reaction to retinol. We advise against using retinol on sore or broken skin.
When should I start using retinol and for how long?
NOW and until you’re 150! It’s never too early, nor too late to start using retinol. Treat your skin to retinol, every day and forever – it will love you for it!
How do I fit retinol into my skincare routine?
Using our retinol serum could not be easier. Simply apply to clean skin, every evening before going to bed. It takes a few drops of serum and a few seconds to massage it into your skin… that’s it!
Are there skincare products that I shouldn’t use with retinol?
Not really. There are many online myths as to what you can and can’t use with retinol but, on the whole, it’s more about the quality of products you use and whether you are sensitive to certain ingredients.
If you want to use AHAs, salicylic or glycolic acid as an exfoliator, go for it but, we recommend:
